The American Chemistry Council has tapped Chris Jahn as its next CEO, starting in October. He will succeed Cal Dooley, who has led the $125M-revenue association since 2008.

Jahn currently is CEO of The Fertilizer Institute, an $9.6M-revenue association based in Washington, D.C. He previously was president of the National Association of Chemical Distributors and, before that, president of the Contract Services Association.

"For someone who has dedicated their career to advancing pro-growth public policy that protects both people and the environment, there isn't a more dynamic industry or association out there," Jahn said in a statement. "From seizing on its own innovative nature to harness the opportunities of shale gas and drive tremendous economic expansion, to investing in new products and technologies that will enable a more sustainable future, the business of chemistry has a compelling story to tell."

ACC's current CEO Dooley was originally scheduled to retire last year but agreed to stay on an extra year as plastic products have increasingly come under fire by governments and activist groups, who blame plastics for a wide range of pollution problems. Dooley said in a statement that with Jahn, "I know that I'll be leaving ACC in terrific hands."

Cal Dooley received $3,215,357 in take-home pay in 2017, according to the latest available tax records. Jahn received $552,374 in take-home pay in 2016, the latest available figures for The Fertilizer Institute.
